Embarking on your portrait painting journey may appear daunting at first, a sentiment echoed by many aspiring artists. Without proper guidance and a structured approach, navigating this art form can feel overwhelming, leaving you feeling lost and discouraged. However, there's no need to lose hope; I will teach you everything you need to know about portrait painting!
I'm a New York Based artist who grew up in Nelson so about once a year I return to my hometown to share the knowledge I've gained around the world with this community!

As your portrait painting instructor, my primary objective is to offer steadfast support and guide you through any uncertainties, ensuring that portrait creation becomes a delightful experience. START PAINTINGHI, I'M
A Canadian-born artist currently residing in New York City. My paintings have been described by Galleries West as “contradictory and enigmatic scenes (that) unravel centuries of power relations and imagine a new future.”
I obtained my BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2011 and completed my MFA at The New York Academy of Art in 2013. Currently, I serve as an adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Art.
My artwork has been widely showcased in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Europe, and China. Notable venues include the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Spain, the National Academy Museum in NYC, and Flowers Gallery in NYC.
